Kipling Tors
To experience fabulous views of Bideford Bay walk the paths of Kipling tors. Some of the paths are steep and stony but are worth the challenge for the views. With a variety of different terrain, wonder the woodland path or the top path and visit the "Old War Lookout". This was used in the Second World War for watching out for enemies entering the Bay by boat. You can again access to the cliffs from Kipling tors and continue your journey along the Coastal Path. Access can be gained from Fosketh Hill, Westward Ho! Merley Road or Cornborough Road at the top of Westward Ho!
Northam Burrows Country Park

Northam Burrows Country Park lies at the western edge of the Taw Torridge Estuary (GR. 442/308) Lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Burrows forms an integral part of the newly designated United Nations Biosphere Reserve. The Burrows provides one of the access points for the two miles of Westward Ho! Beach, thus combining the best of opportunities for land and marine leisure activities.

Tarka Trail
North Devon
Cycle from Barnstaple along the shores of the estuary of the Rivers Taw and Torridge for spectacular views to Bideford or cycle the other direction 6.5 miles to Braunton. There are a variety of stopping points to take in the glorious North Devon scenery or for refreshments. The Tarka trail runs all the way from Braunton through to Meeth. Over 21 miles of level traffic free Tarka to explore. A popular route is also Bideford to Torrington where you cycle over the 14th Centuary bridge built by the Grenville family.

Torrington Cycle Hire

Welcome to TORRINGTON CYCLE HIRE which is situated beside the old Railway Station at the foot of the hill to the famous Cavalier town of Great Torrington in North Devon. This safe, traffic free trail is popular with experienced cyclists and families alike. It runs along the disused railway line which has the benefit of being relatively flat with only small uphill and downhill gradients. The railway line at Torrington stopped providing passenger services in 1965, though it continued carrying goods until closure in 1982. The trail runs alongside the River Torridge which inspired Henry Williamson to write Tarka the Otter. As you travel through this beautiful area of North Devon you may spot Deer, Rabbits, Squirrels, Otters, Kingfishers, Salmon and many other species of birds, wildlife and flowers.

Crow Point
Near Braunton, North Devon
Where the Taw and Torridge rivers meet. This walk can only be done on a receding tide but it is still advised then to keep away from the edge of the water. This walk offers views of the sea, small villages in the distance such as Instow and Appledore. To your left the dramatic back drop of Baggy point and Saunton sands beach reveal North Devon's vast array of Coast and Countryside.
Hartland Point

A cliff side walk along the North Devon coast. With fantastic coastal views, waterfalls and an old mill there is lots to see on this walk.

Tamar Lakes

Scenic Coastal walk within a national trust area. Walk along the Cliffs edge and take in stunning North Devon coastline and countryside backdrop. The nearest point to Lundy Island, Baggy Point offers spectacular views of the island on a clear day.

Torrs Walk
Ilfracombe
The walk begins behind Torrs Park a national trust area. The winding path along to Lee Bay has great views over the Bristol Channel. The walk back can be the same routing or through Fuchsia Valley into Ilfracombe town but this is the longer walk.
Lynton & Lynmouth
North Devon
These twin towns are spectacularly positioned in an area known as 'Little Switzerland of England'. Walk from the harbour up river to the valley of the rocks. The walk offers woodland scenery combined with a seaside feel. The river has many small waterfalls and pools where small fish can be spotted.
